History of NT
Ferro Jewelers
NT Ferro Jewelers,
located in the historic village of Woodstock, Vermont, is a family
owned company that dates back to 1947. It is a full service jewelry
store specializing in fine estate jewelry, diamonds, custom designs,
and vintage and contemporary timepieces. NT Ferro Jewelers is renowned
for having one of the finest collections of estate jewelry in New
England. Nicholas Ferro is a registered Jeweler with the American
Gem Society and a DeBeers Diamond design award winner.
In 1947, Nicholas
Ferro, Sr., Nick's father, started Essex Jewelers in Newark, New Jersey.
By the late 1960's the company had become one of the leading ring
designers and manufactures in the country, serving over 1,000 retail
jewelry stores. Nick's love of art and design led him into the family
business in 1962, where he later went on to manage the operation with
his brothers Frank and John. At Essex jewelers Nick designed the jewelry
lines for almost 12 years. After the business was sold in 1974, Nick
and Beverly Ferro developed a custom retail jewelry store in Bernardsville,
NJ where they designed custom pieces for the public.
In 1981 the
Ferros moved to Vermont where they rented a small space at 11 Central
Street in Woodstock. They created designer jewelry for the public
and in 1986 Nick and Beverly purchased the building and doubled their
retail space. The additional space allowed the Ferros to add an antique
and estate jewelry department. They attended many shows and auctions
and today have created one of the finest collections of estate jewelry
in New England.
In 1995, Nicholas
Ferro won 1st prize for a diamond ring in the DeBeers Design Contest
held in New York City. Mike Kelley, N.T. Ferro's master jeweler for
19 years, won the 1996 AGTA Spectrum Award for his tourmaline pendant.
Presently N.T. Ferro Jewelers is creating a line of platinum wedding
and engagement rings, blending the styles of the old master jewelers
with the designs of today. This blending of new designs and old works
by master jewelers is why N.T. Ferro remains the leader in the field
of one-of-a-kind pieces. Their clientele extends worldwide.
